A group of frogs were travelling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit（深坑）. All the other frogs gathered around the pit.
一群青蛙在森林里旅行，其中两只掉进了深坑，其他青蛙聚集在坑周围观看。
When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as （实际上等于）dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump out of the pit with all their might.
他们看着坑有多深，然后告诉那两只青蛙他们会死。两只青蛙没有理会，用尽全力想跳出来。
The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed（注意） to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
同伴们一直叫他们不要打扰，他们只是死了。最后一个听了大家的建议，放弃了。他摔倒了，死了。
另一个还在使劲跳。大家伙还冲他吼，让他别再受苦了，还是等死吧。相反，他跳得更用力，最后跳了出来。
When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog ex 17:19:35plained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging the entire time.
其他青蛙看到他跳出来，都说：“你没听见我们说话吗？”青蛙解释说他是聋子，听不见。他认为每个人都在鼓励他。
